Barakat: "I wish the day will come when sayyed [Nasrallah] allows me – not even asks me, he would not ask me… But I wish he will allow me to be one of the people who…"
Interviewer: "Okay, he would not ask you, but let's assume he does ask you…"
Barakat: "I am telling you that personally I wish that I will have the opportunity one day to become not just a martyr, but a martyrdom-seeker who blows himself up among the ranks of an enemy chosen by Nasrallah."
Interviewer: "How do you explain this?"
Barakat: "This is not just out of belief in sayyed [Nasrallah] but also out of belief in his Lord, his religion, and his Quran. I am not referring to him here as an individual."
Interviewer: "So today you are willing to sacrifice yourself for Hassan Nasrallah?"
Barakat: "Not for his sake, but for the sake of the line that he represents."
Interviewer: "What if Nabih Berri asked you to blow yourself up? Would you do it?"
….Long pause….
Barakat: "No."
Nabih Berri is head of the Amal Movement, a Lebanese Shia group which is allied with Hezbollah – but the man sadly doesn't have the same charisma as Nasrallah.
I don't see why he can't just go ahead and blow himself up if he's so keen, this Barakat. It would certainly make for a powerful finale to one of his concerts. Well, his last concert. Going out with a bang.
