What's the problem? He was famous, wasn't he? That's all that counts. "Get out there, chaps, and make your mark on the world. Write poems, compose music, invent a new type of vacuum cleaner, betray your country in the name of Stalin….just make your mark"

It’s strange how there is a double standard between the far left and the far right.
I’m sure that any school that William Joyce (Lord Haw Haw) or Oswald Mosley had attended would never dream of commemorating them, even if they were just as famous as Donald Maclean. And if those schools did, you could imagine the uproar.
I’m not saying that fascist traitors should be viewed more kindly these days. Heaven forbid! But it is strange how Soviet Communism, though responsible for the oppression and murder of tens of millions of people, should somehow be seen as more benign than the Nazis. Perhaps it’s because Communism is deemed to have grown out of a better, more just philosophy, however much it had gone wrong. But, boy, did it ever go wrong!
