    Fascism is encroaching upon us but, in this country at least, people treated in a similar manner may still appeal to the courts. Otherwise, like in the 1930s, people in similar predicaments may seek ways to emigrate. Australia seems at the moment a safer bet. For any eventuality, however,it’s always advisable to have one’s suitcase at the ready.
    Presentations are always difficult as a simple uncautious remark may lend you into trouble. As a young man,at the end of a presentation in one of the socialist democracies, I was met at the top of a staircase by an officer of the secret police. He warned me that my jokes had exhausted his patience and next time he would take me straight to jail. Also,unless one’s mortgage is paid, one should try avoiding common rooms. In my experience, there’ll always be someone there who would report you to HR.
